Chris Powell has returned to management with Southend

Chris Powell is relishing being back in a management but is acutely aware he will be judged on results.

Powell has got off to a flying start as Southend boss, becoming the first manager in the club`s history to win his opening three matches in charge.

But the former Charlton boss, who spent five-and-a-half years as a player at Southend, says he never doubted his ability despite not managing a team since he left Huddersfield in November 2015.

I`m loving it, I`m loving being back but results help - ultimately that`s what we are being judged on, he told Sky Sports News.

Any manager, at any level, that`s what you are judged on but it`s been great to come back in.

I never lost belief that I would manage again and I had a couple of interviews. I didn`t get the jobs which is fine because ultimately you want to be interviewed.

I turned down a couple of opportunities which weren`t right for me and that`s because I had belief in myself in terms of where I wanted to manage.
