Swansea captain Angel Rangel has been ruled out for six weeks after undergoing groin surgery.
The 35-year-old right-back had an operation on Monday to cure a problem which has kept him out of action since the beginning of January.
Rangel has made just six appearances this season and has not figured since the 2-0 home defeat to Tottenham.
Swansea, who named the Spanish defender as captain in November when Leon Britton joined the coaching staff under former manager Paul Clement, announced the news in a statement on their official club website.

The Spaniard went under the knife in London on Monday to cure a groin problem, and he is set to play a part in the club`s Premier League run-in after the successful procedure.
Swansea are currently just outside the Premier League relegation zone with new manager Carlos Carvalhal taking 14 points from the last seven matches.
The club have also confirmed Leroy Fer has undergone successful surgery on an Achilles injury sustained during their 1-1 draw with Leicester earlier this month.
